Movies: Magnolia, The Royal Tenenbaums, Lost in Translation, There Will Be Blood, No Country for Old Men, Gettysburg, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Darjeeling Limited, Rushmore, The Life Aquatic, Sports movies like Hoosiers, Field of Dreams, Chariots of Fire, etc., etc., Wes Anderson, Sofia Coppola, P.T. Anderson, Natalie Portman.

Music: You might think, because I don’t list here all the bands I like, that I’m not really interested in music. This would not be true.

Books: Everything is Illuminated, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, Love In the Time of Cholera, Catcher in the Rye, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Look Homeward Angel, The Architecture of Happiness, Atlas Shrugged, Life of Pi, Dandelion Wine, Fahrenheit 451, A Clockwork Orange, The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay, Blue Like Jazz, Through Painted Deserts, Siddhartha, Jonathan Livingston Seagull. Absolutely anything by Henri Nouwen, F. Scott Fitzgerald, C.S. Lewis, J.D. Salinger, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, etc., etc. Early-to-mid-20th century books. Some recent stuff but a lot of it is kind of crap. I don’t like the old classics so much but modern lit really gets me going. I also like newspapers a lot. Sometimes I read them in the mornings before I take a shower.
